Tiny Owl Button

In the button series there is a new friend to be found!  The tiny owl!

tiny owl button

This little fellow is easily done.

You need:

· 2 colours of puppet yarn

· 1.5mm crochet hook

· sewing needle

· a tiny amount of stuffing (polyfill, scrap  yarn, what have you)

· something to make it buttonable, I use safety needles

Abbreviations: sc single crochet

Head:

1. Round: crochet 6 sc in a circle (with the magic ring technique or chain 2 and make 6 in the 2nd stitch from hook)

2. Round: crochet 2 sc in each sc (12)

3. Round: *sc then 2sc in next sc* repeat around (18)

4. Round: *sc in next 2 sc, then 2sc in next sc* repeat around (24)

5. -10. Round: sc in each (24)

Fasten off, stuff and sew opening close.  That automagically makes the little ears, but you might stitch a few times into them to shape them a bit.

Triangle:

1. Row: Chain 9

2.-4. Row: sc in each stitch across chain with a turning stitch

Then sc in each sc for every row without a turning stitch until there is only one left.  Fasten off.

Single crochet once around triangle, to make it smoother.  Fasten off.  Sew it on the head.

Eyes (make 2):

1. Round: crochet 6 sc in a circle (with the magic ring technique or chain 2 and make 6 in the 2nd stitch from hook)

2. Round: crochet 2 sc in each sc (12)

Fasten off, sew to head.

Attach safety needle or equivalent and have fun.
